High school students must be in the 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade in Fall 2017.

Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Students must have successfully completed algebra or will be qualified for enrollment in algebra for the coming school term.

Students must demonstrate an expressed interest in engineering, science, transportation or technology careers, as illustrated in their written statement describing his/her reasons for wanting to participate in the program.

Students must provide one letter of recommendation from teachers or guidance counselors, confirming the student’s capabilities and enthusiasm for pursuing a career within the STEM fields.

LETTER OF RECCOMENDATION​?
One teacher or councelor recommentation must be submitted with the application. It must show your capabilities and enthusiasm for pursuing a career within the STEM fields.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION?
After you have completed the application and you have your letter of reccomendation as well as your transcript, you should click on the "Submit your application" tab on the top right corner of this website. Your email will open with the recipent being "a.ghahremani@miami.edu" and the subject being "UM-NSTI." Attach your documents to the email and send it. You should recieve a confirmation email within a couple of days.
